The impending Adidas Originals Stan Smith “Stanniversary” edition is set to hit the sneaker market on July 19, 2022. Those looking to get their hands on these celebratory shoes can grab them online and at physical Adidas stores. They will cost $100 for each pair.

Even though Stan Smith’s victory at Wimbledon in 1972 over Ilie Năstase was his only triumph at Wimbledon, it nevertheless played an important role in his remarkable life journey.
After 50 years, Adidas Originals has created the Stan Smith “Stanniversary”, a sneaker that pays homage to the shoes Stanley wore during his unforgettable match. The official Adidas webpage mentions the inspiration for the latest edition as follows:
“Drawing from our archives of sporting heritage, we celebrate Stan’s victory in 1972. Now the timeless white silhouette comes in a vintage color palette to add a fresh touch to your look. Whether you’re hitting the streets to weekend fun or for the daily bustle, these are about to become your new go-to.
These anniversary edition pairs come dressed in the retro “Off White/Cream White/Cloud White” colorway reminiscent of the glory days of the tennis shoe. These shoes are adorned with a subtle blush of color that offers delicate complexity. The uppers are highlighted by Adidas as:
“Stan Smith logos on the tongue and heel tab are paired with perforated three stripes.”
The pair’s entire off-white leather upper is accented with hits of dark red on the tongue tags. Made with quality textiles, the tongues feature Adidas branding with Stan Smith’s portrait placed below. On the lateral side, the perforations are associated with the debossed lettering of Stan Smith.
The heel counters of the shoes are also made with premium neutral suedes. These suede elements on the heel tabs feature the coveted Trefoil logo with the player’s name added below. These shoes also underline the shoe company’s sustainable approach as they are made from recycled materials. Adidas explains it this way:
“Made with a series of recycled materials, this upper contains at least 50% recycled content. This product is just one of our solutions to help end plastic waste. »
Additionally, these pairs are enhanced with a number of fresh and classic features, including the player’s victory date “JUN, 06, 1972” which is prominent on the sneaker’s internal collars.
To finish off the pair, creamy Adidas Originals midsoles are seamlessly tied together with greyish white outsoles.
Highlighting the versatile style of the new release, the shoe brand’s website states:
