After debuting the “Sea Salt” and “Marblehead” colorways of the New Balance 990v2 silhouette earlier this year, Creative Director Teddy Santis will now deliver a new “Black” version of the sneaker design. Teddy, who moved to New Brunswick in late 2021, released her first collection in April 2022. Dubbed “Made in the USA,” her collection will now feature a “Black” rendition.
The New Balance 990v2 shoe by Teddy Santis is scheduled to hit the shoe market on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. (US/Eastern). Teddy Santis gives New Balance 990v2 shoes a black makeover in Made in USA collection
The description of the New Balance 990v2 Black shoe on the brand’s official webpage states,
“The original designers of the 990 were tasked with creating the best running shoe on the market. The finished product more than lived up to its bill. When it first hit shelves in 1982, the 990 sported a stylishly understated gray color scheme and a then-unheard-of triple-digit price. For avid racers and trendsetters, the 990 was a mark of superior quality and taste.”
He goes on to say,
“There have been design updates since 1982, and more color options, but the aura of the 990’s aspirational status symbol has never changed. Simply put, the 990 is such a shoe. good that we never stopped making it.The 990v2 features premium premium construction and ABZORB midsole cushioning.
The upper of this 990v2 shoe features an attractive combination of high quality pigskin suede and fine mesh throughout. Although labeled “black,” cream and gray accents are used alternating with velvety black textiles to complete the design of the shoe.
Distinct shades of neutral tones are used to adorn the top. Mesh toes are highlighted with sturdy gray suede, which is then contoured with black nubuck. These gray suedes are added mainly to emphasize the bold black background.
Next to the mesh toes, the bright cream tongues and lace ties are well positioned. Black eyelets are paired with creamy white tabs embroidered with ‘990’ and ‘New Balance’ lettering in similar hues.
Next, the signature N logo is placed right next to the eyelets on the medial sides of the sneakers. Then the soft collar areas are made with suedes and pigskin. On the heel counters, the tongues are covered in softer beige textiles with “USA” branding underneath.
Additionally, the insole is black and topped with NB logo and typography prints. The base of the soles are also adorned with the emblems of NB and ABZORB.
ABZORB midsoles work as a perfect shock absorber for the wearer and absorb shock. These creamy white midsoles are perfectly linked with the black outsoles to envelop these shoes.
Regarding the signature ABZORB midsole built into these shoes, the NB shopping site mentions,
“The ABZORB midsole absorbs shock through a combination of cushioning and compression resistance.”
