The NBA legend’s shoe brand is celebrating the three-decade success of its seventh silhouette by releasing various new styles and colorways of the Air Jordan 7. Earlier in March this year, the Jordan brand embellished the shoe with the Sapphire makeup. In addition to that, it is also reintroducing some of its most popular colorways, namely “Cardinal Red” and “Citrus”, as part of its anniversary celebrations. The latest update is the “Afrobeats” SE version, which will be released soon.

While an official launch date is pending for confirmation from Jordan Brand, these African music-inspired sneakers will most likely arrive alongside Fall 2022 releases, in October. The special “Afrobeats” edition of the Air Jordan 7 will retail for $210 a pair, via Nike’s online stores as well as select retail outlets.

Honestly, the shoe’s 30th anniversary celebrations would be incomplete without this stylish SE “Afrobeats” edition, which is a tribute to the eponymous musical category that belongs to the West African region. The official Jordan brand webpage highlighted the history and evolution of its seventh silhouette as follows:

“The Air Jordan VI was the shoe worn by MJ on his way to becoming an international icon. Not only did he repeat as NBA champion, Finals MVP and regular season MVP, but he also led the States United to a gold medal at the 1992 Summer Games in Barcelona.

They further added:

“As MJ’s awareness grew, the AJ VII steered the Air Jordan line in a new direction. In an effort to distinguish Air Jordan from Nike as a whole, the shoe saw two bold omissions by the exterior design of the Nike branding and a visible Air window.Foreshadowing even bigger changes to come, the Air Jordan line has now begun to be released separately from Nike Basketball.

Tinker Hatfield’s reinterpreted design features ‘Vechetta Tan’, ‘Taxi’, ‘Dark Concord’ and ‘Black’ colors. Minimal white accents are also used to enhance the appeal of these shoes. The majority of the uppers are wrapped in smooth beige-colored leathers. The toe boxes, medial sides, eyelets, heel counters and sides are all made with tanned leathers.

The tongues have black and white striped patterns and are topped with rich black laces. These mixed stripes on the tongues are finished with “Air Jordan” lettering towards the collars.

Additionally, the side rails as well as the heel areas feature domed patterns of Jumpman insignia and other zigzag elements representing Afrobeats, which can be felt by touch.

On the back, the heels are beautifully complemented with Nike Air swoosh embroidery designs done with Black. Perforated heel pulls are also prominent on the rear sides. These tabs are placed right next to the similar black and white striped patterns that are placed on the heel tabs.

The other colors i.e. Taxi Yellow and Concord Purple are used on the soles to make them more vibrant. The all-black soles are accented with the two mentioned hues on the sides, which match the rest.
