Platypus Shoes has announced that Australian musician G Flip will be its first-ever brand ambassador, launching the integrated “G’d Up from the Feet Up” campaign.
The announcement:
Platypus Shoes announces favorite Australian singer, songwriter and drummer, G Flip, as its first ever brand ambassador.
The partnership kicks off in more than 160 Platypus stores with its new campaign, “G’d Up from the Feet Up”. Inspired by the energy G brings to their concerts, the campaign takes us behind the scenes with G to experience the raw moments, buildup and hype that make the music we love.
With festivals back on the cards, the campaign takes you on a ride to get ready like G. From epic kicks to high-energy gigs, see how G prepares for his unique live performances he’s known for. Be inspired to express yourself authentically like G.
Using Platypus’ in-store recycling program was part of the Australian Sporting Goods Association’s (ASGA) Save our Soles initiative, the brand recycled old shoes that consumers had dropped off in-store to create a custom drum kit for the campaign. The drum kit connects G and Platypus’ commitment to doing better through the brand’s Platypus Planet platform.
Speaking about the partnership, G Flip said, “I’m thrilled to be the first-ever Platypus Brand Ambassador. I’ve always enjoyed receiving my shoes from Platypus, so it’s really cool to have been able to shoot this campaign and work with the Platypus team. Check out my edition of the festival and get some sick shoes! »
Platypus Managing Director Armando Pedruco said after the launch of the G Flip x Crocs collaboration last year, which was exclusively stocked in Platypus, it became clear that they were a perfect fit for the brand.
“We’re thrilled to have G Flip on board as an ambassador for Platypus. At Platypus, we’re always pushing the envelope – from our marketing campaigns to our gender-neutral in-store merchandising. G Flip represents exactly what our brand. We look forward to seeing our Platy magic continue to come to life throughout this exciting collaboration,” said Pedruco.
The partnership comes as Platypus prepares to launch its own genderless fashion brand – Not Only, which is slated to launch later this semester.
This campaign is launched from Friday July 1 via a complete 360° omnichannel takeover including in-store windows, merchandising, website and social media. A private G Flip performance for media and friends of the Platypus brand will take place at the Platypus Head to Toe Melbourne Central store on Wednesday July 13.
