Matthew M Williams’ brand 1017 ALYX 9SM is well acquainted with the footwear industry, having made waves with their Nike Air Force 1 High collaboration and their own line of mules. Now, ahead of tomorrow’s Milan Fashion Week show, MMW took to Instagram to showcase a slew of shoes that will soon be seen on the catwalk.
Part of the ‘FADE’ brand’s Fall / Winter 2022 collection, the shoes range from sparkling and shiny versions of the Mono slipper to a pair of jeweled kitten heels. However, the emphasis has been on innovation more than anything else, as MMW presents a pair of sculptural shoes not too different from the pairs he designed recently at Givenchy, most notably the Monumental.
On the foot, the shoe is black and sculpted with pleats and lines that trace back to a hidden mid-rise silhouette, using material similar to that of the Mono Slipper. As such, the shoes are slick and perfectly combine a futuristic aesthetic with something akin to Kanye West’s newfound love for post-apocalyptic Red Wing and Balenciaga boots.
Apart from that, MMW is showcasing other upcoming FW22 shoes. It’s a bold move in sneakers this season, with 1017 ALYX 9SM debuting distressed leather high top sneakers and low top sneakers combined with an angular, smooth midsole again similar to previous slip-on pairs, as well as High-top mesh and leather paneled sneakers in the same design reminiscent of the YEEZY 1050.
