Kyle Rudolph: I have big feet, but Gronk’s shoes are too big to fill

Kyle Rudolph signed with the Buccaneers just over a week ago and it’s no big secret why he’s in Tampa.

Rudolph said Wednesday that a championship is the only hole he’s trying to fill in his resume and that the Bucs give him a shot at a Super Bowl. It helped the Bucs run into a tight spot with Rob Gronkowski retiring from the NFL this offseason, though Rudolph made it clear he didn’t see himself replicating what Gronk brought to the table.

“These shoes are way too big to fill, and I have really big feet,” Rudolph said, via Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Weather.

Gronkowski and Bucs quarterback Tom Brady had a long run together in New England and Tampa. Rudolph probably won’t develop that kind of chemistry with Brady in training camp, but Rudolph still said his goal is “to be on the same page with Tom as if we’ve been playing together for 10 years.” .

That kind of relationship might be overkill, but having Rudolph in the right place on the court in September should be enough to make his signing a plus for the Bucs offense this year.
