Bread shoes redefine the meaning of “moccasins”
When most of us hear of people making bread shoes and posting pictures of them on the internet, I imagine the general answer is simple. Why?
It seems to be the same answer to the question of why people would create a hamster cult on TikTok, or why they would post pictures of beans in weird places.
The internet is a very specialized and obscure place. There’s room for all sorts of quirks, which is really cool on the one hand. On the other… where does it stop?
This is not the case.
People put bread on their feet, make it look like shoes and get kicked. And it’s all fun and games…until you start thinking about it.
Wait. People are hungry in the streets of our own country, and people are putting out good bread on their feet?
It looks funny, of course. However, hopefully this bread shoe trend will pass soon and those folks will be inspired to drop off these perfectly good loaves to someone in need. You know, rather than carrying them on their feet.
Not to put all SJW on you, the pics look pretty hilarious. And the trend gives a whole new meaning to the term stroller. Let’s take a look at this hilarious and controversial internet trend.
Where did the bread shoe trend come from?
The trend actually surfaced around 2009, when “extravagant slippers” were all the rage. In fact, a Lithuanian brother duo launched a line of Bread Shoes around 2009.
The brand was downright weird, but playful at the same time. And even if you think they made real slippers that look like loaves of bread, that’s not the case. They were loaves of bread, branded and sold as slippers. And as you can imagine, some of them even sold out.
The project was fun and has since spawned a trend of people online putting loaves of bread on their feet.
What’s your flavor?
What’s cool about these shoes is that they can come in different flavors, colors, and styles. You can even get them “black”, which means the loaf of bread is pumpernickel or dark rye.
The point is to laugh and have fun with it…until you understand that people need to eat.
Anyway! Here are some hilarious pictures of shoes made out of bread for your rabbit hole fun today.
