Editor’s notes: atmos and ASICS continue their beautiful friendship, dipping into their chef’s bag for a meaty new collaboration with the help of Japanese comedian and meat enthusiast Jimon Terakado.
Working again with the GEL-LYTE III OG, atmos releases an evening dinner special that calls for another helping of hairy kicks.
This time, the latest collaboration is inspired by ‘wagyu’, a high-quality Japanese beef that is considered one of the best in the world.
The ASICS GEL-LYTE III OG from atmos incorporates a glossy black fur material on the upper, directly referencing Japanese black cattle, one of the four wagyu breeds.
With his rodent-infested New Balance 2002Rs, his savage “Animal” Air Max 1 pack, and now this, these atmos guys obviously have a thing for furs.
The gold verbiage of the atmos x ASICS GEL-LYTE III OG upper recognizes the superior quality of wagyu, with a gold “PRIME” representing the highest possible quality ranking of the meat.
On the heel, shiny “KOBE”, “MATSUSAKA” and “OMI” representing the three must-have brands for premium Japanese black beef.
Now, if those details weren’t screaming “wagyu”, the insole and accompanying sockliner of the atmos x ASICS GEL-LYTE III OG will surely do the job, channeling the distinctive bright red and light pink marbling and well- loved by wagyu.
If you find yourself indulging in the GEL-LYTE III OG wagyu, I ask that you please leave your compliments to the heads of the evening: atmos and ASICS.
Seriously, thank them while you can. I have a feeling the next meal of the two will be hairier and less flavorful.
